Located at 2621 S Oneida St., Nothing Bundt Cakes, a bakery focused solely on bundt cakes, made its northeast Wisconsin debut earlier this month with owners Marisa George and Jill McGrath.

The baked goods chain began in 1997 when founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz started to run the business out of their Las Vegas homes, and has since since expanded to include roughly 430 stores spread out across 40+ states and even into Canada.

While there are five other locations in Wisconsin — with stores in Fox Point, Greenfield, Brookfield, Pleasant Prairie and Madison — the chain is relatively new to northeast Wisconsin.

And what better spot could there have been to break into the greater Green Bay area than the bustling Oneida Street location?

“We chose this location because we wanted to be centrally located,” Marisa said when asked why she and McGrath chose to open the bakery in Green Bay. “People here aren’t familiar with Nothing Bundt Cakes, and there is little brand recognition here.”

“We want to be able to introduce something new and distinctive to the community,” McGrath added.

Nothing Bundt Cakes, as the name implies, specializes in bundt cakes — both big and small.

Full-size eight- or ten-inch bundt cakes can be found in a variety of flavors ranging from confetti, to red velvet to classic vanilla are available in addition to mini single-serve bundt cakes called “bundtlets.”

The store also sells an assortment of party and gift items.

“We sort of want to be a one-stop-shop kind of thing,” Marisa explained. “We want to be a place where you can come buy some desserts and some gifts as well.”

Despite being a chain brand, one thing Marisa and McGrath said they want people to know is that their cakes are made fresh within their store.

“Everything is handcrafted here in the bakery,” said McGrath. “The big thing to know is that we don’t bake somewhere else and then bring it in. Everything is baked and frosted here on-site, from scratch, with fresh, local ingredients.”

Nothing Bundt Cakes’ grand opening is scheduled for Friday Jan. 13 at 12 p.m. The celebration doesn’t stop there, though, as free confetti bundtlets will be offered to the first 300 people to visit the bakery on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Thursday, Jan. 12, will be Community Appreciation day, where teachers, veterans, military, first responders and other medical professionals can show their credentials for an opportunity to receive a free bundtlet

“We’re excited to be here, and we’re excited to be a part of the community and to meet people!” said Marisa.

Thursday Jan. 12 there will be a Community Appreciation Day, where teachers, veterans, military, first responders and other medical professionals can show their credentials for an opportunity to receive a free bundtlet.
