Audryn Just – The Next Generation in Theater

Audryn Just

Audryn

Parents: Amber and Jeff Just
Area of Interest: Theater

When did you first get involved in theater? What got you interested?
I first got involved in theater when I was three and played Baby Bear in “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” I had first become interested in performing a few months earlier when I sang a solo at my preschool Christmas concert. My parents signed me up for a little theater class and the rest is history!

What do you like most about theater?
I love being able to elicit emotion in an audience, whether that be joy, sadness, anger. To be able to make an audience connect with my character or connect with the show as a whole is something truly magical.

What has been your favorite experience related to theater so far?
As hard as it is to pick just one favorite, one that’s currently coming to mind is getting to be a part of Encore Singers at the Fox Cities PAC last year — specifically the “Encore Cabaret.” It was so fun to get to work with everyone and sing songs from shows I’d never get to actually do at this point in my life. It was an experience I hold dear to my heart.

What’s something you hope to do/accomplish as a performer in the future?
Honestly, all I could possibly hope for is the opportunity to continue to perform. I hope that I can get to do this my entire life.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into theater?
My advice is to audition no matter what! So often we get stuck in the mindset of “I’m not gonna get in anyway, so what’s the point?” But if you at least audition you have a chance. The only way you can be 100% certain you won’t get a role is if you don’t audition, and at the very least, auditioning is a great way to gain experience and build confidence!

What six words would you use to describe yourself?
Witty, sensitive, funny, kind, talkative and passionate.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I have lots of weird circus talents! Most notably, juggling!

What subject do you enjoy most in school?
I love my analysis of drama course and choir! Both for obvious reasons.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Chewing gum. I just hate everything about it.

Where do you hope to travel one day?
New York City. I’m a city girl and as a theater lover New York City would be so fun.

What plans do you have for after you’ve finished school?
I plan to go to college to get my BFA in Musical Theater.

If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
Probably someone really rich so I could relax in the lap of luxury and also go on a spending spree!

Do you have any pets?
I have a black lab named Owen and a cat named Niles.

What’s one skill you think everyone should have?
Respect — especially to retail workers and food service employees. No one deserves to get yelled at when they’re just trying to do their job.

Are you a Green Bay Packers fan?
Sure! Although I don’t actually care much about sports. I’ll say I’m a fan of whatever team my family wants me to be!
