Paint Parties and Art By Hallie

Medium/Art Form: Visual

When and how did you start making art?
I began making art more seriously in high school. I was always a creative child, but my spark for creating art more professionally began when I was in 10th grade. I studied under Mrs. Schaefer at Kimberly High School, and I flourished in her 2D design classes, which is where my passion grew.

What inspires your work?
Currently, people inspire my work the most. I love portraiture, and I admire making portraits of those I love. I enjoy watching their personalities come into my work. Since I have been studying at UW-Green Bay, I have become more inspired by the role bats play in our culture, especially as pollinators.

How would you describe Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community?
I feel that Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community has been growing significantly. I am very impressed by the mural festival that occurs each year, and I love seeing museums, like the Neville, including art shows to bring arts further into the community.

What is the best advice you have for other artists?
Appreciate every moment that you have a creative thought and, whenever you have time, use it to create your next piece. Write them down any moment you can so they can influence what you create next.
