The Next Generation of Musicians
Green Bay West High School
Parent: Robyn Guyette
Area of Interest: Band
When did you first get involved in band? What got you interested?
5th Grade. I wanted to play clarinet because I loved watching Spongebob and seeing Squidward play the clarinet.
What instruments do you play?
I play alto and tenor sax now and my favorite has to still be the alto sax. It’s what I switched to in 6th grade, and it’s what I’ve sunk the most time into.
What has been your favorite band experience so far?
Marching band without a doubt.
What’s something you hope to do/accomplish as a musician in the future?
Being able to play in a band and continue my marching band career in college.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get into band?
Don’t ever feel discouraged and always keep going.
The more you put into it, the more fun you have.
What six words would you use to describe yourself?
Energetic, loud, enthusiastic, passionate, proud and unique.
Do you have any hidden talents?
It’s not very hidden, but I can play guitar pretty decently. I’ve been self-taught for two years.
What subject do you enjoy most in school?
If it’s not band, then definitely math because I love numbers and solving equations. Math teachers are also just the best.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Having to get up super early in the morning.
Where do you hope to travel one day?
Italy for sure, to experience the culture. Especially since my heritage goes back to there.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
You have to knock down the pawns in order to get to the king.
Who is your role model?
My best friend Garrison because he set such an example of what a model band leader should look like and for all of the things he’s done for me.
What plans do you have for after you’ve finished school?
Go to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds and march in the band. And also become an accountant.
If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
I would switch with Eddie Murphy in the ‘80s because he was absolutely baller.
What’s one skill you think everyone should have?
Being able to tolerate others or at least most people so you can work with anyone.
Are you a Green Bay Packers fan?
Yes, but only when they win.
