When and how did you start making art?

I started in 2016 after buying my first painting kit at Hobby Lobby. At the time, I was focusing on my mental health and my therapist recommended I find a creative outlet to help me cope with workplace-related stress, my anxiety and my depression.

What inspires your work?

I am inspired by the stars and by the multiple bodies of water around Green Bay and Door County. While painting, I will listen to music and try to focus on an emotion that I am feeling. I also use my artwork to express my faith.

How would you describe Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community?

I can sum the arts community simply as supportive. I have not met a fellow artist that wasn’t supporting my efforts and my business. Whether it is giving ideas for new works or different ways to grow my business, the artists I have encountered have done nothing but build me up, and I hope that I convey the same attitude and enthusiasm for their work as well!

What is the best advice you have for other artists?

Do what you love and share your passion. When you are passionate about what you do, then people will want to be excited about your work too!

Where can people find your work?

I am on Instagram and Facebook — my handle is @mlfineartstudiollc.

I also have a website, mikelainbergerfineartstudio.squarespace.com
