When and how did you start making art?
I began creating clay art in December, 2020.
I have been an artist since I was young, but had never worked with polymer before. During the beginning of the pandemic, I was looking for a way to relax, express myself and focus on beauty in a world that felt unrecognizable at the time.

What inspires your work?
Nature, specifically floral arrangements.

How would you describe Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community?
The art community in the greater Green Bay Area is expanding, but still has much maturing to do.
We are on our way by investing in events through community partners like the Art Garage who have a vision to encourage appreciation for and participation in the arts.

What is the best advice you have for other artists?
Focus on your own creations and not on other artist’s work or success.

After all, the definition of art according to Oxford Languages is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”

An artist’s work should ignite their heart and express an extension of their unique view of the world.
If artists compare themselves to others, it robs the process of creation and the eventual outcome of joy.
