The next generation of artists

Morgan Osmon
NEW Lutheran High School

Nicknames: Rae-Rae, Mo

Area of Interest: Art

Aunt and Uncle: Karla and Scott Isable

How did you get involved in art?

I got started when I was younger when I saw my mom and sister drawing. I thought that it could be a way to express my thoughts without saying them. I like that all my art will be unique no matter what.

What does your involvement in art look like now?

I have had my art shown in an art show and an auction. When I become an adult, art will just become a hobby.

What six words would you say describe you best?

Kind, reliable, independent, passionate, confident and indecisive

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve received?

Adults aren’t always right. Adults can apologize too and it doesn’t make them less of a parent or leader. Just because you talk smart doesn’t mean you are. People deal with a lot of pain and sometimes you can’t help them and that’s okay.

Where do you hope to one day visit?

Hawaii.

What advice would you have to other students thinking of getting into art?

Don’t compare your art to someone else’s. Looking at other artists for inspiration is great, but don’t compare and let it get you down. Be authentic.

What is your favorite thing you’ve ever done with your area of interest?

I got to look at an art museum of different artists.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

Teleporting or flight.

What are your plans for after college?

I want to take a gap year, then attend a 4-year college to become a counselor.

Milk, white or dark chocolate?

Milk.

Early bird or night owl?

Both.

What is your first childhood memory?

Jumping from bed to bed in mine and my brother’s room.

Favorite Halloween costume you’d ever had?

My family all dressed up as zombies.

Apple or Android?

Apple.

Starbucks, Dunkin or Scooters?

Starbucks.

What are you listening to right now?

“Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne

What is your favorite class and why?

English. The English teacher takes time to understand her students and makes it interesting to learn.

Which statement do you agree with — the movie was better than the book or the book is always better than the movie?

The book is always better than the movie.

Are you a Green Bay Packers fan?

No, I’m a Chicago Bears fan.

Who is your biggest role model?

Alexis Isable.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a veterinarian.
