ASHWAUBENON – The Ashwaubenon girls’ tennis team picked up an important early-season Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC) victory, downing Green Bay Southwest 6-1 on Sept. 1 at Pioneer Park.
The Jaguars (1-1 FRCC) swept all four singles matches to open up a big lead.
Ashwaubenon’s Jordan Domnick beat Southwest’s Brianna Martinson in first singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Khali Wickert from Ashwaubenon defeated Ella VandenHouten of Southwest at second singles, 6-3, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Jaguars’s Lily Brown was triumphant 6-4, 6-1 over Southwest’s Ella Crowley.
Ashwaubenon’s Sarah Beaudo beat Southwest’s Delaney King in fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Doubles proved to be more competitive.
Southwest (0-2 FRCC) got its lone win at No. 1 doubles as Julia Tackmier and Allison Roever defeated Ashwaubenon’s Karleigh Conradt and Mayghan Bongle, 6-4, 6-2.
Ashwaubenon won the other two doubles matches. Lucy Cole and Saanvi Kunala beat Gail Wery and Felicity Harris, 6-3, 6-2, and No. 2.
The final match was the closest with Nadia Schiegg and Arya Shankar-Damodhar being victorious over Ayana Russell and Brooke VanGhem, 6-4, 6-3.
