Artist Angle

Name:

Mike Riley

Medium/Art Form:

Visual

When and how did you start making art?

I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember.

What inspires your work?

Originally I was inspired by my father whose art is wonderful.

I’m inspired by other artists as well.

It may either be by the genre, style or feeling they exhibit in their work that makes me want to try it.
Sometimes I literally dream of things to put into my art.

Trying something new really inspires me, fuels me, gives me a real shot of energy.

How would you describe Green Bay/NE Wisconsin’s arts community?

It’s growing, sometimes by leaps and bounds and is becoming much more noticeable in the 20 plus years I’ve lived here.

What is the best advice you have for other artists?

Put your heart into it.

Don’t give up, even when you feel defeated.

Take a step back, regroup and run at it again.

Where can people find your work?

Sometimes at the Art Garage, sometimes at art fairs.

I have some journals in a few shops around town I’ve created.

I also make free random art drops around Green Bay.
