GREEN BAY – Calling all gamers – a new business catering to all the game lovers out there is set to open this week in the former Green Bay Press Gazette distribution building on the corner of Walnut Street and Monroe Avenue in downtown Green Bay.
Rogue Games goal is to attract people who want to not only purchase, but also play card games, board games and video games in both social and tournament settings.
“A big part of our mission is to give back to the community as much as we can and hopefully bring lots of people to the downtown Green Bay area,” said George Lepek, owner of Rogue Games.
It’s also a great place to learn a new game.
By welcoming all levels of players – from beginner to casual to veteran – Lepak hopes to create an environment where gamers can not only pick up a new game, but also sit down and play, trade and have genuine conversations about the games they love.
Lepek said the location is key as there are a few similar businesses around the Green Bay area but almost all of them are located on the west side of the river.
The former Green Bay Press Gazette distribution building is the perfect spot as it is located in a central downtown area on the east side of the Fox River and it is spacious enough to host large tournaments and events.
These events could revolve around trading card games, board games or even video games with different prizes for winning and participating.
The building will be occupied jointly by Rogue Games and Allouez Rare Coin – both of which are owned by Lepek and were formerly located on Webster Avenue in Allouez.
“We have loved watching Rogue Games move into a new space downtown,” said Jeff Mirkes, Executive Director of Downtown Green Bay, Inc. and Olde Main Street, Inc. “The former Press Gazette distribution building on Walnut and Monroe is a high-traffic section of downtown, perfect for this unique retailer looking to expand their space and service. This business will bring a loyal customer base to the Downtown District as well as offering our residents and visitors new gaming experiences.”
Lepek said there will be a grand opening celebration with the date yet to be determined.
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
