Rockers fall in series opener in Madison

MADISON – The Madison Mallards took game one of the series over the Green Bay Rockers Thursday in Madison, 12-5.

After starting the second half of the Northwoods League season 4-2, the Rockers have lost three straight.

In the second inning, Green Bay’s Danny Wuestenfeld hit a three-run home run over the right-field wall for a 3-0 lead.

Madison got a single run in the bottom of the third inning.

In the fourth inning, the Mallards scored six runs on seven hits.

The Rockers made it 7-5 in the sixth inning.

Reuben Church hit an RBI single, and Bay Port graduate Jake Berg hit a sacrifice fly to left.

The Mallards scored three more times in the bottom of the sixth inning and added two more in the eighth to close the scoring.

Green Bay looks to even the series Friday night.

De Pere graduate Will Semb will throw for the Rockers.

First pitch from Warner Park is slated for 6:35 p.m.
