School: Preble
Area of interest: Intra-City Student Council President
Parents: Heidi and Scott Socha

As Intra-City Student Council president, Preble senior Maisie Socha said she enjoys being a voice for the students of Preble High School, and the entire Green Bay School District.

Though she is a newbie on the Intra-City Student Council, Socha is no stranger to student leadership.

“I was on my middle school student council, and then I have been on my high school’s student council since freshman year,” she said. “This is my first year that I am going to be on the Intra-City Student Council, along with being an officer, so there’s a lot to learn.”

Socha said Intra-City council members elected officers during the first meeting she attended earlier this year.

“At our first meeting, we had to vote on the officers, and I decided that I would be interested and fit for the president position,” she said. “I ended up getting voted into the position.”

Socha said though the 2022-23 council has only met a few times, the group has already discussed several “amazing ideas and are excited for what the future presents.”

“Our quarterly meeting this year was very productive and it was an awesome first experience,” she said.

Socha said her favorite part about being a member of the Intra-City Student Council is the influence it has on potential change.

“We get to give the School District insight on the schools and some possible solutions to problems in order to better our community,” she said. “This gives me a special opportunity to better my leadership skills, and I will be able to use those the rest of my life.”

Socha said she isn’t sure which college she plans to attend after high school, but wants to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
