Dorthy Williams is homeless in Green Bay.
She came to Brown County from Chicago seven years ago, along with a handful of her family members, seeking a healthier environment to live in. She said that things just fell apart once everyone arrived and that they all just sort of went their own way, falling out of touch with one another for various reasons
Not long after, things turned from unpredictable to desperate and Williams, who suffers from bipolar disorder, found herself out on the streets.
She said she has no one to help her.
The people at St. John’s Homeless Shelter are wonderful, she said, and she is grateful for the warm place to sleep during the winter. But she also said shelter life is very difficult and she will be happy when it warms up enough for her to sleep outside again.
