Olivia Zabel is a senior on the Ashwaubenon softball and golf teams.
As a junior pitcher, she led the Fox River Classic Conference in innings pitched, was fourth with a 3.55 earned run average and struck out 68 batters.
As a senior, she leads off in the batting order and is a team captain.
The Jaguars are coming off a 13-13 season in which they lost to Green Bay Preble in a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 regional final game, 4-3.
Do you like the aesthetics or to get the best score on a golf course?
“The aesthetics because I enjoy the outdoors.”
What’s the hardest position in softball?
“Catcher because you have to know what’s going on and have to be smart in communicating where the ball needs to be thrown.”
Talk about the hand signals softball coaches use.
“We normally use numbers in various orders as signals for pitching, hitting and plays in the field.”
Favorite late-night snack?
“Popcorn.”
Talk about a golf tournament you enjoy watching.
“I don’t watch golf unless I’m playing.”
If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?
“My mom because she’s an inspiration to me.”
Which would you rather do – make a long winding 100-foot putt or rip a career drive down the fairway?
“Rip a career drive down the fairway.”
How have you grown as a person?
“I’ve learned to be patient and that hard work pays off.”
What’s one thing other classmates or teachers don’t know about you?
“I want to live in a VW (Volkswagen) bus and travel the world someday.”

“Fourteen.”

“To attend a four-year college, but I’m not sure what I want to study.”

“Rock climb.”

“Jennie Finch.”

“Science.”

“When I recorded my career-high 12 strikeouts in a game.”
