By Press Times Staff

LAWRENCE – The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department have made an arrest in what they’ve called the “largest drug bust in Hobart-Lawrence history,” as thousands of dollars in drugs, cash and guns were seized March 29.

According to the department, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person/vehicle at the gas pumps at Kwik Trip on Freedom Road (CTH S) in the Town of Lawrence.

Officials said the vehicle had been parked there for more than an hour.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle running with a white male asleep in the driver’s seat.

Officers were able to wake the driver, and as he removed his hands from his pockets, one of the officers noticed drug paraphernalia visible in his pocket.

The driver, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was asked to step out of the vehicle and was placed in handcuffs.

An investigation began, which eventually led to the largest drug bust in Hobart-Lawrence history.

Thousands of dollars in illegal narcotics were seized, as well as a large amount of US currency, four firearms and a Ford Explorer.

The suspect is currently being held in the Brown County Jail.

The name of the suspect is being withheld at this time, as this remains an active investigation.
