Incumbent Peters to face Mika April 5 for Brown County District 22

BROWN COUNTY – Incumbent Tom Peters faces challenger Kenneth Mika April 5 for the District 22 two-year term on the Brown County Board of Supervisors.

District 22 encompasses parts of the Village of Ashwaubenon and Town of Lawrence.

The Press Times asked each candidate the same question.

“What do you see as the most important issue facing Brown County and District 22, and if elected, how will you address it?”

Each candidate had 200 words to respond.

Peters did not reply.

Kenneth Mika

A: The most important issue facing the Brown County Board of Supervisors is the current infrastructure in Brown County, and how it is limiting the success of many of our residents and businesses.

Brown County has seen substantial growth with new and existing manufactures, in which the job opportunities have increased.

Unfortunately, many of the new opportunities are not located in locations where residents are available for the work offered.

Because of this, we are not able to get the right people to the right opportunities.

In addition, many rural areas are developing into suburban areas, and the existing infrastructure was not designed to handle our current and proposed vehicles and the number of vehicles per day.

Plus, the additional vehicles on the road make it hazardous for walkers, bikers and other recreation opportunities.

As a professional civil engineer who is experienced in state and national infrastructure advocacy, I plan to properly inform the board on the issues, collaborate with county and local stakeholders on infrastructure upgrades, and support the county executive and other stakeholders in advocating for proper funding for upgrading our infrastructure.

Having proper infrastructure ensures the future success of Brown County residents and businesses.
