Bay Port turns back De Pere in FRCC wrestling dual

DE PERE – The Bay Port wrestling team traveled to De Pere Thursday, Feb. 3, for a Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC) wrestling dual.

With a combined 11 pins or forfeits between the teams, the Pirates turned back the Redbirds on senior night, 46-31.

The dual started at the 138-pound weight class, with Bay Port’s Ethan Farley pinning Charlie Jossart 53 seconds into the second period.

After De Pere’s Collin Hansen beat Will Nast with a 5-1 decision at 145, the Pirates got a pin from Jacob Ward at 152 and then two consecutive forfeit wins at 160 and 170 to jump ahead 24-3.

The Redbirds charged back with three consecutive pins from Michael Alexander (182), Brennan Kincade (195) and Deven Tenor (220) to bring the deficit to 24-21.

Bay Port then recorded four consecutive pins to put the match away.

Aided by forfeits, Seymour wrestlers better Green Bay United

SEYMOUR – Spurred on by four forfeit wins, the Seymour wrestling team bettered Green Bay United Feb. 3, 42-30.

Of the 14 matches in the dual, which began at 138 pounds, only eight were contested.

All the contested matches were decided by pins – four by each team.

Both teams forfeited at 195 and 113.

Green Bay United is a co-op team made up of athletes from Green East, Green Bay Southwest and Green West.
