Green Bay women’s basketball has two more games canceled
GREEN BAY – The University of Wisconsin Green Bay-Milwaukee home-and-home women’s basketball series scheduled for Jan. 21 and Jan. 23 has been canceled due to COVID health and safety protocols within the Milwaukee program.
This is the seventh game the Phoenix have had canceled or postponed this season due to COVID.
Horizon League policy, vetted by multiple membership groups and approved by the Horizon League Council, says contests canceled due to COVID are forfeited unless deemed a no-contest by the commissioner.
League policy authorizes the commissioner to deem a cancellation a no-contest when the involved institution can demonstrate extraordinary circumstances led to the cancellation.
Given the surge in positive cases due to the Omicron variant, the council agreed a high volume of breakthrough cases among vaccinated individuals is considered extraordinary.
Milwaukee has sought to deem the missed competitions as no contests.
Pending a review, the league will make a determination on whether these games will be deemed forfeits or no contests at a later time.
If the games are ruled a no-contest, Green Bay and Milwaukee could explore future dates for make-up.
In the meantime, the Phoenix are exploring options to play a different opponent tonight, Jan. 21.
If Green Bay plays at the Kress Center, fans who have tickets for the Milwaukee game would receive free entry.
If the Phoenix aren’t able to find a different opponent and unable to find a re-schedule date against Milwaukee, fans who purchased single-game tickets can be refunded.
Season ticket holders have the option to exchange their tickets for a future regular-season game or can be refunded upon request.
Fans who requested a refund for any previous cancellations will automatically be added to the refund list for this cancellation as well.
Contact the Phoenix Ticket Office at 920-465-2625 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request the refund.
Ticket holders who do not request an exchange or refund for this game will have the value of their tickets go to support Phoenix Athletics.
