’Tis the season to get into the holiday spirit

By The Press Times Staff

Despite a rough year by all accounts, the Greater Green Bay area is pushing through to make this time of year a little brighter for everyone.

Ice skating rink open for season

Titletown is ready for winter fun, with the ice skating rink now open for the season.

Skating rink hours, admission and rental prices are available at titletown.com/events/recreation/skating.

Visitors are reminded that everyone using the rink must complete a waiver, which may be completed ahead of time online.

A new waiver must be filled out for each visit, unless the visitor has a season pass.

Season passes for the rink are available for purchase at the admissions building.

Ariens Hill, the tubing hill adjacent to the rink, will open in the coming weeks, as soon as sustained weather conditions are favorable for making snow.

This year’s tubing hours and admission prices will be available soon.

All activities are subject to change depending on the weather.

Up-to-date information about activities and programming is shared through Titletown’s social media platforms.

For more information, visit titletown.com.

Titletown will also kick off its Winter Jubilee Warm Up and the debut of the Winter Jubilee Light Show presented by Performa and LaForce, on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27.

The first Winter Jubilee Light Show will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 26, with a seven-minute show happening every 30 minutes until 9 p.m.

This schedule will continue most Fridays and Saturdays.

Some times may be affected by Green Bay Packers game weekends.

The family-friendly presentation is projected onto Lambeau Field’s outer west façade, off of Ridge Road, and will feature a new blend of holiday-themed lights and animation, music, special effects and fireworks.

A full list of show dates and times, as well as parking information, is available at titletown.com/events/calendar/winter-jubilee-light-show.

Garden of Lights returns

A sure sign of the holiday season opens Friday, Nov. 26.

Over the next several weeks, attendees can experience more than 325,000 sparkling lights shaped into one-of-a-kind, nature-inspired displays at the Green Bay Botanical Garden’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual WPS Garden of Lights

“We’re excited to celebrate 25 years of this beloved botanically-themed light show, and end our 25th birthday year with a bang,” Executive Director Susan Garot said. “This event was one of the first ways our community could come together during the busy holiday season, bring family and friends to the garden and experience the beautiful, serene season together.”

The event opens Nov. 26 and runs from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23, as well as Dec. 26-30 and Jan. 1.

Garot said the event gives visitors the chance to create memories with friends and family.

A variety of COVID-19 protocols will be implemented again this year to continue this safe outdoor experience:

• Dated and timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance.

• Face coverings are strongly recommended for all guests in buildings (ages 2 and up) except when drinking or eating. Face coverings are required for photos with Santa.

• Limited capacity per night spread out over a 4 1/2-hour period to limit gatherings in enclosed spaces.

• Limited seating on horse-drawn wagon rides. Face coverings are strongly recommended while on the wagon.

• One-way entry and exit points.

Organizers said all event decisions regarding guest, staff and volunteer safety have been made under the advice of the Brown County Public Health Department.

Letters to Santa

Now through Dec. 15, the De Pere Historical Society is holding its Letters to Santa event.

Children can drop their letters in Santa’s large red mailbox on the front lawn of White Pillars Museum, 403 N. Broadway De Pere.

Children will then receive a letter back from Santa, so, it’s important all letters include a return address.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting De Pere Saturday, Dec. 4, riding around town in a horse-drawn carriage from 1-3 p.m. in conjunction with Definitely De Pere’s Holly Days event.

The carriage will make periodic stops in the plaza area at Union Hotel for photo opportunities, however, there will be no sitting on Santa’s lap.

Additional information is available at deperehistory.org, or on the De Pere Historical Society’s Facebook page.
