Week 2 area high school football recaps

BROWN COUNTY – Week 2 of the high school football season is in the books.

Most teams will begin conference play this week.

Pulaski hangs on

The Red Raiders (2-0) pulled out a 30-25 non-conference road victory over Brookfield Central.

Pulaski trailed 18-14 entering the fourth quarter.

Aaron Maroszek bolted for an 80-yard score in the first quarter to give the Red Raiders a 7-2 lead after the extra point.

Maverick Cole added a 61-yard jaunt in the second quarter.

Maroszek and Cole rushed for 146 and 116 yards, respectively.

In the fourth quarter, Maroszek and Cole each added touchdown runs, while Will Steeno kicked a 30-yard field goal.

Preble stung at home

The Hornets (0-2) lost a 56-6 non-conference home game to Appleton North.

North led 49-0 at the half.

The lone bright spot for Preble came in the third quarter when quarterback David Torres connected with wide receiver Eli DeBraske on a 26-yard score.

Torres was 11-of-28 passing for 129 yards but did throw three interceptions.

West De Pere drops tight game

The Phantoms (0-2) lost a 32-29 non-conference road game to Hortonville.

Running back Najeh Mitchell scored four touchdowns for the Phantoms – one on the ground and three via the air from quarterback Sam Aleknavicius.

Mitchelle had a 25-yard rushing score and caught 23-, 25- and 27-yard touchdown receptions from Aleknavicius.

West De Pere held a 29-21 lead in the fourth quarter, only to see the Polar Bears end the game with 11 consecutive points.

Red Devils lose on road

Green Bay East (0-2) lost a 45-6 non-conference road game to Kingsford in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

No stats were available online.

Wildcats shut out at home

Green Bay West (0-2) couldn’t score in a 34-0 non-conference home game to Manawa.

Wildcats Quarterback Cory Johnson was 12-of-21 passing for 209 yards.

Wide receiver Dakotah Montez hauled in seven balls for 158 yards.

Seymour shut out again

The Thunder lost a 43-0 non-conference home game to Luxemburg-Casco.

Seymour has been outscored 83-0 in its two losses.
