ASHWAUBENON – The University of Notre Dame and the University of Wisconsin-Madison agreed to reschedule their neutral-site matchup at Lambeau Field to Sept. 5, 2026.
The Irish and Badgers were originally scheduled to play Oct. 3, 2020, at Lambeau in Green Bay, the first of a two-year, neutral-site series that would also see the teams play in 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Last year’s game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing several conferences to suspend non-conference games, but this year’s matchup at Soldier Field Sept. 25, 2021, will take place as scheduled.
The contests will mark the first meetings between Notre Dame and Wisconsin since a three-game series from 1962-64.

We look forward to welcoming fans of both schools to Green Bay and are excited to enjoy the college atmosphere again at Lambeau. It will be special for the Green Bay community to host a game between two of college football’s finest programs.”
The last time a college football game was hosted at the stadium was the Lambeau Field College Classic Sept. 3, 2016, between LSU and Wisconsin.
The contest had a significant economic impact on the Green Bay area, as fans from both contingents traveled to the area for the week of the game.
The rescheduled date will mark Notre Dame’s first-ever appearance at Lambeau, which is named after Curly Lambeau – former Irish player and eventual founder of the Packers.
Wisconsin has played once in the stadium, its 16-14 victory over No. 5 LSU in 2016.
The Notre Dame-Wisconsin meeting in 2026 will mark the second major college football game in Lambeau’s history.
It will be the third college game overall, including when NCAA Division III St. Norbert faced Fordham in 1983.
