Easton Vertz is a senior pitcher on the Pulaski baseball team who earned honorable mention as a sophomore in the Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC).

He said he loves to explore crazy and exciting things.

Vertz said a baseball hitting his glove is his favorite sound of spring.

What are your goals for the 2021 season?

“Improve my game and help Pulaski win the conference title.”

Who’s your favorite college team?

“St. Cloud State University because I’m committed to playing for them at the next level.”

Talk about a moment when you need a big at-bat in a key game.

“When you’re down one run with runners on second and third, in the bottom of the seventh, with two outs.”

You were an FRCC selection. What characteristics are needed to play one of those key positions?

“You need to work hard and dedicate yourself to the sport. Those who watch will see what your potential is and what you can do. You will be noticed for time put in on the field.”

What’s your most embarrassing baseball moment?

“When I was 10 years old, I played in a tournament and wanted to swing and hit like Babe Ruth. I came up to the plate, proceeded to call my shot and pointed my bat over center field. I then struck out on three straight pitches.”

Talk about Pulaski and how much sports revolve around it.

“Pulaski is a small town with nothing but cornfields surrounding the village limits. Sports are one of the few things people can take time out of their day to come to watch or play.”

What’s the hardest part about playing baseball?

“The unpredictability. You don’t know if the next pitch is a home run, a groundout or if the ball hit will come right at you. It’s also what makes baseball awesome – being able to react the best way in a small amount of time.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“Jacob deGrom.”

Which would you rather be able to do – pitch 90 mph consistently or hit a 350-foot blast once in your lifetime?

“Pitch 90 mph consistently.”

What’s the best baseball field you’ve played on?

“Prospect Meadows in Iowa. It had all turf fields. I didn’t have to keep moving dirt around to get better footing.”

What are your college aspirations?

“Get my degree in special education and put on a show on the baseball diamond.”

Where do you plan to live after college?

“Pulaski.”

What are your hobbies?

“Hunting, fishing and athletics.”

What one word describes you?

“Kind.”

Water skiing or beach volleyball?

“Beach volleyball.”

What other sport do you excel in?

“Football.”

Appleton for a state baseball game or the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska?

“College World Series.”

Ice cream or coffee shops?

“Ice cream.”

Favorite summer activities?

“Fishing and hanging out at the lake.”

What two cities would you like to visit?

“Minneapolis and Los Angeles.”

Lambeau Field or Camp Randall?

“Camp Randall.”

Where do you see yourself in 25 years?

“Coaching baseball and teaching in the Pulaski Community School District.”
