Local athletes compete at state cross country meet

JANESVILLE – Several local athletes competed at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) state cross country meet May 8 at the Blackhawk Golf Course in Janesville.

Boys

Bay Port’s Anthony Adriansen was the top local boys’ finisher, placing 11th in 16:08.

Stevens Point’s Jake Bourget won in 15:38.

Green Bay Preble’s Brett Litkey (16:25), Frank Haanen (16:43) and Michael Kreuser (16:49) finished 18th, 25th and 26th, respectively.

Connor Behrend (Bay Port, 27th – 16:50), Aaron Paris (Preble, 39th – 17:06), Garrison Willems (Preble, 45th – 17:19), Josh Helgeson (Preble, 52nd – 17:28) and Ethan Raye (Preble, 73rd – 18:54) also competed among 76 finishers.

Preble finished third overall with 91 points among eight teams.

Point won the title with 32 points.

Girls

De Pere freshman Hope Dragseth was the top local girls’ finisher, placing eighth in 19:11.

Hailey Novitski (Preble, 11th – 19:19), Jordan Meulemans (De Pere, 19th – 19:56), Alexis Trousil (De Pere, 25th – 20:13), Jessica Rolain (De Pere, 40th – 20:46), Greta Hansen (Green Bay Southwest, 42nd – 20:51), Emma Coon (De Pere, 43rd – 20:56), Kemily Kneeland (De Pere, 52nd – 21:12) and Kyle Trousil (De Pere, 74th – 23:18) also competed among 74 finishers.

De Pere finished fourth overall as a team with 87 points among eight teams.

Middleton won the title with 41 points.
