Austin Dewberry is a senior on the Green Bay East football team.

The Red Devils, under head coach Levi Nelson, laced up their cleats for the first time in more than 18 months March 25 in a 40-6 loss to Sheboygan North.

Dewberry said he likes to play on turf because there’s less chance of getting injured, and it looks better to the eye.

Talk about the new coaching staff at East.

“It’s going well. Everyone is staying connected the best they can. Some coaches have been here a while, so that helps with easing into things.”

Downhill skiing or tubing?

“Tubing. My balance is awful. It’s more fun when you can’t control which direction you’re going.”

What’s something about you most people don’t know?

“I used to dislike football.”

What’s the hardest part about dealing with a loss?

“Watching/listening to the other team celebrate after the clock hits zero and the speech coach gives after the game.”

Talk about what it’s like playing at City Stadium.

“It’s exciting and thrilling. There’s no better feeling than putting on the pads and going out on that field.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“I would be (NFL quarterback) Tom Brady. He seems like he’s living the life.”

Is it hard for offensive/defensive players to get recognition instead of skilled players?

“Most definitely. No one ever talks about the linemen when something goes right.”

What’s a weekend out of season like for you?

“I’m usually working all day. If I’m lucky enough to get a weekend off, I spend it with my buddies.”

Which do you dislike the most – washing dishes, mowing the lawn or raking leaves?

“Mowing the lawn because it turns my shoes green. When I get grass all over, it itches.”

Hunting or a hike in the mountains?

“Hiking in the mountains. Hunting gets long and boring. When you are hiking, the time flies, and you get to check out the scenery.”

Talk about a time you made somebody laugh.

“My cousins and I were playing tag in the backyard, and I slid across some dog food. It was funny for them, but not so much for me.”

What are your college aspirations?

“I’d like to attend a four-year university and play football at the next level.”

Africa or Antarctica?

“Africa because I already feel like I live in Antarctica.”

What two items do you like getting from the grocery store?

“Donuts and Gatorade.”

If you could get up tomorrow and go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

“I’d go to Rome. It seems like a cool place with the history.”

Favorite video game ever played?

“Black Ops 2. It’s hands-down the best game ever created.”

What three words describe you?

“Hard-working, generous, determined.”

What’s your favorite music genre?

“Country.”

What’s one thing you feel should be changed to helmets or football gear to keep you safer?

“The padding inside the helmets to make it a little softer.”

Who’s your favorite pro football player?

“Packers player Jaire Alexander because he’s a future hall of famer in the making.”

What’s your favorite in-season activity to attend with friends?

“Going to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to fill backpacks.”
