Madison McFerrin is a member of the Green Bay Southwest girls’ basketball and track and field teams.

She’s a three-year starter on the basketball team and has averaged 11 points, six rebounds and almost five assists per game this season.

Southwest earned a No. 3 seed in the WIAA Division 1 regional.

What teammate would you like to be trapped with after a hurricane?

“Taliah DeGroot, because she’s funny, and we’d entertain one another.”

How does high school prepare you for college?

“By teaching me time management and self-motivation skills. With school being online this year, it’s made me realize where I fall.”

A movie in a theater or on Amazon Prime?

“Amazon Prime”

Who’s the most likely to be early/late to track and field practice? 

“All the girls are most likely to be late, while the boys are usually earlier to practice.”

Popcorn or Doritos? 

“Doritos.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? 

“My mom, because she has life figured out.”

What’s your favorite browser on your laptop?

“Google.”

I am disappointed with …

“Not being able to have a full season of high school basketball for my senior year.”

What are your college aspirations? 

“Maintain a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, play my heart out on the court and be able to transfer to a bigger school.”

French toast or an omelet?

“Omelet.”

Who has given you the best advice?

“Former Southwest basketball coach Erin Barkley. I used to get anxious before games, and she never let up. Her words, ‘just play’ stuck with me. This was the best advice because it was simple. To this day, when I say these words in my head, my nerves go away.”

What three words describe you? 

“Energetic, silly, kind.”

Flying or driving with friends on a 1,000-mile trip?

“Flying.”

Describe a traumatic experience that altered your life for the better.

“When a childhood friend was murdered. It was hard for my family and me, but it’s helped me think of another person when playing basketball. I try to tell myself I’m playing for him.”

Where would you like to attend the NCAA basketball tournament?

“Los Angeles, because it’d be the perfect place with things to do.”

Who’s your favorite basketball player?

“LeBron James.”

Favorite basketball move?

“The step-back.”

Texas or Montana?

“Texas, because it’s warm.”

Do you have any bad habits?

“I try to work on all my bad habits.”

“Running up Ariens Hill.”

If you didn’t play basketball, what other sport would you have considered?

“Volleyball. It seems the closest to basketball.”
