Notre Dame cross country runners qualify for state

HORTONVILLE – Four Notre Dame Academy cross country runners advanced to the WIAA Division 1 state meet after strong showings at the Hortonville Sectional Oct. 23 at Greenville Lions Park.

The boys’ team traveled to the sectional as a group, but sophomore Isaac Nowak was the only member of the team to advance to next weekend’s state meet at Arrowhead High School.

Nowak’s time of 16:51 placed him seventh.

For the girls, Molly Desotell (third, 18:06), Lauren Conway (ninth, 19:48) and Camille Broullire (11th, 19:54) also advanced to the state meet.

The boys’ team finished third as a team with 57 points behind Neenah (43) and Kimberly (48).

Only the top two teams advanced to state as a group.

Conner Hawley (11th, 17:01), Alex Gutowski (18th, 7:28), Joe Stumpf (23rd, 17:43), Alex Brabant (25th, 17:49), Braeden Tilot (26th, 17:49) and Beckett Chambers (31st, 17:56) also competed for the boys but didn’t advance.

Each race had 38 participants.
