Notre Dame boys’ cross country advances to sectionals

GREEN BAY – The Notre Dame Academy boys’ cross country team finished second at the WIAA Division 1 subsectional meet Oct. 20 at Colburn Park in Green Bay.

The Tritons (47 points) finished eight points behind winner Kimberly at the meet, which was moved up two hours because of inclement weather in the forecast.

Only the top two teams advanced to the sectional meet Friday, Oct. 23, in Hortonville.

Forty-nine runners participated in the boys’ race.

Notre Dame placed four runners in the top 10, led by Conner Hawley’s seventh-place time of 17:04.

Isaac Nowak (eighth, 17:10), Alex Gutowski (ninth, 17:26) and Joe Stumpf (10th, 17:30) rounded out the top 10 for the Tritons.

Braeden Tilot (13th, 17:35), Alex Brabant (21st, 17:44) and Beckett Chambers (23rd, 17:46) also participated for Notre Dame.

Seymour, which finished fifth among seven teams with 96 points, received an 11th place from Jason Skinkis (17:31).

Blake Linsmeyer (16th, 17:37), Riley Clement (17th, 17:38), Jacob Woldt (20th, 17:43), Gunar Weyer (32nd, 18:17), Reid Clement (35th, 18:38) and Tyler Reuter (47th, 19:55) also competed for the Thunder.

West De Pere was a slot behind in sixth with 156 points.

The Phantoms were led by Noah Janke, who finished 15th in 17:36.

Landon Nuthals (28th, 18:07), Ryan Flood (36th, 18:45), Josh Hampton (38th, 18:56), Zach Suda (39th, 19:01), Evan Bowe (42nd, 19:15) and Alec Ukkola (46th, 19:49) also ran for West De Pere.

Girls

Kaukauna (30) and Kimberly (53) finished first and second, respectively, in the girls’ race to advance their teams to sectionals.

Notre Dame (66) finished third, Seymour sixth (172) and West De Pere seventh (203).

Forty-seven runners competed in the girls’ race.

Molly Desotell (fourth, 18:59), Lauren Conway (seventh, 19:30) and Camille Broullire (12th, 20:01) all advanced to the sectional meet as individuals for Notre Dame.

Heidi Lulloff (21st, 20:40), Abby Haase (22nd, 20:52), Paige DeMoulin (29th, 21:36) and Erin McNerney (35th, 22:23) rounded out the Tritons’ lineup.

Sydney Leisgang ran a 21:27 to place 26th for Seymour, while West De Pere’s Ella Blom (30th, 21:41) led the Phantoms.

For the Thunder, Micayla Silas (28th, 21:33), Brooke Mullen (37th, 23:23), Elizabeth Zahn (40th, 23:53), Justine Linsmeyer (41st, 23:54) and Joe Engebos (42nd, 24:54) also competed.

Addison Cornwell (38th, 23:27), Ellie Finley (44th, 25:01), Emily Ott (45th, 25:02), Adriana Ponozzo (46th, 26:13) and Noelle Vogels (47th, 26:50) were the other five runners for West De Pere.
