Ashwaubenon’s Johnson named academic all-state

ASHWAUBENON – Charles Johnson, a junior at Ashwaubenon High School, was recently named to the 2020 academic all-state golf team.

The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW), which honors the academic achievements of student-athletes, modified its system this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because the boys never got to start their season last spring, those who met the minimum grade-point average of 3.25 were selected for the honor.

The GCAW announced 620 students from 86 different high schools were honored this year.

The average GPA of these students was 3.717.

The GCAW was formed by high school golf coaches in 1986 to help build and enhance Wisconsin’s reputation for developing quality junior players by promoting golf in the schools and communities.
