Salary increase approved for Ashwaubenon school staff

By Press Times Staff

ASHWAUBENON – After meeting in closed session Aug. 12, the school board approved an across-the-board 2 percent salary increase for district staff in 2020-21.

Business Director Keith Lucius said the salary increase is expected to cost $340,000 this school year.

He said an additional $660,000 is being budgeted in salaries and benefits associated with the operational referendum district voters approved in April to hire additional staff for student mental health services.

Retirements

The board also approved four teacher retirement requests following the closed session.

Lucius said they include three teachers with 30 years in the district: Susan Krausert, high school math; Jodie Schenk, Parkview Middle School science; and Chris Skogg, kindergarten at Cormier.

He said the board also approved the retirement request of Parkview art teacher Melissa Gerrior, who was with the district for 18 years.

Lucius said he expects those positions to be filled before the start of the school year.

New hires

As part of the consent agenda, the board approved the hiring of six vacant positions, effective at the start of 2020-21.

They include:

• Diann Hallam, full-time sixth-grade science teacher at Parkview.

• Krista Arellano, full-time kindergarten teacher at Valley View.

• Candice Seder, half-time literacy coach at Pioneer.

• Lana Christenson, full-time special education associate at Pioneer.

• Amanda Reinhold, full-time special education associate at Valley View.

• River Otradovec, full-time special education associate at Valley View.
