DE PERE – After Bay Conference commissioner Mark Zahn said the league would be playing its fall sports, West De Pere, former members of the conference for football, will be joining the league again this fall.

Members of the Bay Conference voted to include both Menasha and West De Pere into the conference for the 2020 football season after the Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC) season was postponed to the spring.

Both schools, members of the Bay for all other sports, were moved to the FRCC for football after realignment and were to begin playing this fall.

“We’re excited to play,” said West De Pere Athletic Director Scott Eggert. “The Bay Conference was nice enough to give us an opportunity to provide an opportunity for our kids to play football this season. I’m hoping we get to play lots of games and give the seniors an opportunity to play. We’ve talked about it and worked on it, now we want to play games.”

This year, the Bay will also include Fox Valley Lutheran, New London, Seymour, Shawano, Waupaca, Winneconne and Xavier.

The conference is working on a football schedule that will be released before the start of the fall season.

Conference tournaments will be re-evaluated two weeks before the scheduled date.

The Green Bay public high schools – East, West, Preble and Southwest – announced Aug. 14 they were moving their fall sports to the spring.

East and West are also members of the Bay Conference for all sports except football, where they also belong to the FRCC.

On Aug. 18, the FRCC followed suit and moved its fall sports to the spring.

Other area FRCC schools include Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere, Notre Dame Academy, Preble and Southwest.

Notre Dame is also playing its sports this fall.
