What’s it like playing tennis at East under Nathan Jackson?

“I’ve had a great experience working with coach the past three years. I feel fortunate to be coached by a talented tennis player and someone who knows the game. I’m even more grateful to be led by a good person who supports and values each player on the court.”

What’s your most embarrassing tennis moment?

“I forgot to bring socks for a match, and I got some horrible blisters. It was a mess, and I had to stop a few times throughout my match to get my foot wrapped. Now I bring an extra pair of socks for my matches.”

How do you balance participating in sports and a heavy course load at East?

“By putting myself first and prioritizing my physical and mental health. I’m happy to have the team as a support system and something to look forward to after school.”

What’s your most memorable moment?

“My freshman year, our No. 1 singles player had a tough match and was struggling to get through the last few points of the game. The team came together, cheered her on and hugged her afterward. I felt connected to the team and knew I wanted to continue playing tennis.”

What are your feelings about the current American situation?

“I feel overwhelmed but optimistic about our future. More than ever, I’ve seen communities and organizations come together to initiate positive change, use their voices and take proactive steps to inspire generations to come. The change will be slow, but I believe people with good intentions will continue to move our world in a positive direction.”

Amusement park or a walk on the beach?

“A walk on the beach.”

Tell me about your family.

“My dad started playing tennis with me the summer before my freshman year of high school, and that’s when I started to enjoy playing and became more competitive. I would ask him to play almost every night, and he would hardly ever say no. We still play together, and my older sister joins in sometimes. My mom is also a big supporter. She enjoys seeing me play and cheering me on.”

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

“I love watching cooking shows. I could watch them all day.”

What are your college aspirations?

“I’d like to attend a four-year college. I’m exploring the idea of majoring in psychology. I’ve always been interested in human behavior and why people do the things they do.”

What’s one thing you would change about living in the present?

“I would encourage people to be more empathetic toward others.”

What’s your leadership style?

“I like to joke around, but I’m good at getting to the point and helping others understand.”

What are your hobbies?

“Cooking, watching movies, biking, painting and listening to music.”

What three words describe you?

“Conscientious, intuitive, compassionate.”

Wimbledon or the French Open?

“Wimbledon.”

Who’s your favorite pro tennis player?

“Coco Gauff.”

What other sport could you have excelled in?

“Volleyball.”

If you could board a plane and go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

“Greece.”

Summer or fall?

“Fall.”
