Booyah stuns Rafters on the road

WISCONSIN RAPIDSThe Green Bay Booyah used early run support and solid defense late to win  a 4-3 Northwoods League game in Wisconsin Rapids July 30.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Booyah (14-15).

Green Bay got all four of its runs in the second inning.

Alec Burns got things started with a solo home run, his fifth of the season.

Green Bay scored three more runs in the inning, with both Ethan Payne and Andy Blake picking up RBI.

The Booyah’s bullpen went 5 1/3 innings on the mound and shut out the Rafters for the final five innings.

Aaron Winkler got the win, improving his record to 1-1 on the season.

Kansas State’s Eric Torres had his longest outing of the year, going 2 2/3, striking out five.

Chandler Ingram and Joe Taylor both pitched 2/3 of an inning, and they struck out all four batters they faced.

The victory was also just the second time in 2020 any team has beaten Wisconsin Rapids at Witter Field.

The two sides meet again Friday, July 31, at Capital Credit Union Park, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.

Cam Bailey will make his first start for Green Bay.
