Talk about playing goalie and the success of the team.

“I have enjoyed playing goalie since I was little. Last season, our team won the regional championship, which was one of our goals.”

Who was the quietest person on your team?

“JoAnn Mertens can be quiet, but a few other girls were also quiet. As a team, we opened up around each other and can be lots of fun.”

What’s your most embarrassing soccer moment?

“When I was about 11, I was playing goalie at practice. I went to catch the ball, but it went through my hands, bounced against the post and hit me in the face.”

If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would do?

“Plan a vacation for a couple of weeks in Europe.”

What’s the hardest part about being a goalie?

“It’s hard being the last person on defense because it’s easy to get upset with yourself. It’s important to pick your head up and keep going.”

A week in Florida or Canada?

“I’d go to Canada and practice using some of the French I’ve learned throughout high school.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“The fictional doctor Meredith Grey from the television show ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ That’s my favorite show, and she’s an awesome doctor.”

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

“I enjoy reading.”

Fast forward 15 years – how do you envision your life?

“I hope to be a nurse practitioner working in pediatrics or labor and delivery.”

Talk about a time when you helped somebody.

“I took a mission trip to Alabama one summer and volunteered in a school for a week.”

What three words describe you?

“Honest, determined, compassionate.”

What’s the trendiest outfit you own?

“I have a jean jacket that is trendy, but leggings are my go-to.”

What are your favorite phone apps?

“Snapchat and Instagram.”

Who’s your favorite soccer player?

“Goalie Hope Solo has always been my favorite player. When I was younger, I went to one of her games, met her and got her autograph.”

How do you define success?

“Success is knowing you left everything you had on the field and can be proud of what you did, no matter the outcome.
