Village of Ashwaubenon limiting services in response to Safer at Home order

ASHWAUBENON – In response to Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer At Home order, the Village of Ashwaubenon is reducing staffing to essential services only.

All village buildings and facilities are closed to the public with the exception of voting at village hall.

Parks remain open but playgrounds and shelters are closed.

The village will provide additional updates as changes are implemented.

The status for the following services are effective March 24, and will remain in effect until April 24, or until further notice.

• Police, fire and rescue services will continue uninterrupted.

Officers will continue to enforce safety related issues and respond to emergencies.

For non-emergency situations, officers will call back and take a complaint over the phone.

If officers do respond, they may ask people to exit his or her residence to reduce the possibility of exposure.

• If someone is sick the first thing you should do is call their doctor for care instructions.

If someone thinks he or she has been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, they need to call his or her healthcare provider for medical advice.

Do not go to the clinic or hospital without calling a health care provider first for medical advice.

Call 911 only if there is a medical emergency: If someone has a medical emergency and needs to call 911, notify the operator a person might have COVID-19 so additional precautions can be taken.

If possible, put on a facemask before medical help arrives.

• As of March 22, the Public Safety Department will no longer enforce the overnight parking restrictions in the village.

• The Ashwaubenon Public Safety Records Department is closed until further notice.

People may submit request for reports via email to [email protected].

Any public record requests will be handled as soon as practicable under the circumstances due to the current public health emergency.

• The medical drop box and fingerprinting are closed until further notice.

• Fire inspection service will be limited to final inspections and in-person consultations upon request.

Final inspections and in-person visits will be determined on a case by case basis.

Some requests for on-site visits may be rescheduled to a later date if possible, at the discretion of the Public Safety Department.

All other fire and life safety inquiries can still be pursued via phone and email as usual.

• Garbage and recycling will continue on regular schedules.

Large item pick for April is cancelled.

Spring Clean-Up of leaves and grass as well as the street sweeping program started the week of March 23 and will continue as normal.

• Water and Sewer Utility: Crews will be monitoring all systems to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of water and sewer utility services to all properties.

In-house meter replacements, cross-connection inspections, and regular sewer system maintenance jetting have been suspended at this time.

If someone has issues with sewer or water service contact the village at 920-492-2335 as there is staff on-call 24 hours a day.

• April 7 election: Submit requests for an absentee ballot by completing a request form (elections.wi.gov/forms/el-121-english).

In-person voting is currently available at village hall, however residents are strongly encouraged to vote absentee for the safety of residents and our employees.

Election day voting is still scheduled however, make every effort to request an absentee ballot to reduce attendance at the polls on April 7.

• Municipal Court is closed until April 3. People may email the court at [email protected] and payments can be made online at govpaynow.com and use pay location code 1625.

• Park & Recreation: All classes and events are cancelled through April 30.

While parks remain open, the village asks people avoid all shelters, seating and playground equipment as they are not cleaned or sanitized.

The village asks citizens to adhere to the Safer at Home orders and refrain from congregating in the parks.

Staff will be checking emails and messages periodically.

People may call 920-492-2331 or email the department if they need assistance and staff will respond as soon as practical.

• Building Inspection: Effectively immediately there will be no inspections of existing residential dwellings except for emergency circumstances.

Commercial inspections will continue but the number of people on site during the inspection may be limited by the inspector and inspections may be scheduled after normal working hours to avoid exposure.
