Payton Cunningham is a senior member of the Green Bay Preble girls’ soccer team.

The Hornets won 14 games last season but lost to Appleton West in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 regionals.

Cunningham said she would choose Netflix over going to the movies.

How frustrating was it to lose your first regional game last season?

“No one wants their first regional game to be their last. We also played Appleton West the year before and lost as well. Hopefully, if we get the chance to play them again, the results will be different.”

What teammate would you like to be trapped with on a deserted island?

“Maddie McDermott because she does silly things with me.”

What’s your most embarrassing soccer moment?

“My freshman year when we were in a tournament at West De Pere and we went to penalty kicks. I launched the ball so far over the top of the net, it wasn’t even funny.”

Who’s most likely to be early/late to practice?

“Everyone is usually on time to practice since we go straight from weightlifting. Anabelle Olson and I are usually late to lifting because we get the school lunch they offer after school.”

What’s the hardest part about performing in a soccer match?

“Trying to figure out how the other team is playing so my teammates and I can adjust our play. Once that happens, it’s usually not difficult.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“David Dobrik from Slovakia. He’s funny and makes the best YouTube videos.”

What’s your favorite phone app?

“Instagram or Snapchat because I like seeing what my friends are up to.”

What’s something about you most people don’t know?

“I used to play goalie, and I was pretty good.”

An outdoor or indoor music concert?

“I love outdoor music festivals.”

Talk about your family and their influence on you.

“It’s been nothing but positive. They are constantly pushing me to be successful in my academic and athletic career.”

What are your college aspirations?

“I plan to attend UW-Milwaukee for occupational therapy.”

Winter or summer?

“Summer – I hate the cold.”

What are your hobbies?

“Soccer, hanging with friends, painting and attending concerts.”

What three words describe you?

“Caring, funny, hard-working.”

Tiny house or treehouse?

“I always wanted a treehouse when I was little, but we didn’t have trees in our yard.”

If you could attend the World Cup, which is held every four years, what country would you want to be in?

“Germany or France or some other European country where soccer is big. I attended the World Cup in Canada and saw Team USA play Sweden and one other game.”

Who’s your favorite soccer player?

“Alex Morgan. It would be cool to be as good as her.”

What are three things you’re going to miss about attending Preble?

“My friends, sporting events and school dances.”

Pizza or spaghetti?

“Pizza because there are more options on how to eat it.”

If you didn’t play soccer, what other spring sport would you have considered?

“I’d be running track. I was good at the 400-meter dash and 200 in middle school.”

On a Saturday morning, I can be found …

“In bed or at work.”
