DE PERE – The St. Norbert College men’s basketball and hockey teams each saw their seasons end this past weekend.

The Green Knights battled back from a 20-point deficit, only to lose a 67-60 game to the University of St. Thomas in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament March 6 on the campus of UW-Platteville.

St. Norbert (23-5) trailed 43-23 late in the first half before eventually taking a 58-57 lead with 3:27 left in the game.

Jared Murphy led the Green Knights with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Nolan Beirne added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Wade Geenen had 12 points.

A late rally by St. Norbert wasn’t enough in a 3-2 loss to Adrian College in the championship game of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Playoffs in Adrian, Michigan.

St. Norbert (17-10-2) scored two goals 17 seconds apart in the third period to tie the game at 2-2, but Adrian’s Rex Moe scored the game-winner at 11:12 of the third period for the Bulldogs (21-5-3).

Trailing 2-0 entering the third period, St. Norbert got goals from Keegan Milligan and Peyton Frantti.

Adrian held a 45-37 shots advantage in garnering the automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

St. Norbert goaltender Colby Entz made 42 saves and was named to the Harris Cup Playoffs All-Tournament Team, along with forward Kurt Black and defenseman Brendan Aird.
