Bay Area Ice Bears girls’ hockey honors

BROWN COUNTY – The Bay Area Ice Bears, a co-op girls’ hockey team in the Green Bay area consisting of 28 players from eight different high schools, took home several honors in the recently-released Eastern Shores all-conference team.

The Ice Bears, winners of the Eastern Shores Conference, placed sophomores Madison Anderson (forward, Green Bay Southwest) and Josie Bender (defenseman, Bay Port) on the second team.

Honorable-mention selections included Makayla Spejcher (sophomore forward, Bay Port), Kamdyn McCracken (junior forward, Green Bay Preble), Ella Chilson (sophomore forward, Bay Port) and Jenna Christophersen (sophomore goalie, Bay Port).

In addition, seniors Aria Van De Hei (defenseman, West De Pere), Halle Hill (forward, Preble) and Alyssa Wittman (defenseman, Pulaski) all received the Eastern Shores Conference Scholar-Athlete Award.

In order to qualify for the award, players must be seniors, have earned two varsity letters in hockey, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and have zero athletic-code violations during their high school career.
