Moore and Friberg running in District 7 for county board

By Press Times Staff

BROWN COUNTY – District 7 for the Brown County Board of Supervisors will have new representation in April.

Long-time supervisor Bernie Erickson is not seeking reelection after holding the seat since 2004.

Looking to win the seat this year are Roger Moore and Tom Friberg.

District 7 is comprised of northwest Green Bay, immediately to the west of the Fox River.

The Press Times emailed each candidate the same questions and gave them 100 words to respond to each.

Why should people vote for you?

I’ve been in the transportation industry for the past 25 years.

Being a homeowner in Green Bay, I know how hard it is for the workers of Brown County to sometimes make ends meet.

Vote for me and I will help the hard-working families who want to keep taxes low, but also live in a vibrant, safe community in our great county.

What’s the biggest issue in District 7?

Meeting with the people, I’ve learned the biggest issues on the west side of Green Bay have to deal with maintaining a quality place to live for working-class families.

This includes taking care of the rodent problem, helping with road and pothole issues, and using tax dollars to help maintain west Green Bay as a safe place to raise children.

What should the county do to help move the coal piles?

The county should help facilitate the process of selling the coal off.

There is about one season’s worth left of coal, and once it is gone, we can move forward with continuing to develop the Broadway and waterfront district.

Why should people vote for you?

I want people to be an active part of my platform.

Democracy works best when constituents and their representatives keep in contact with one another and ensure that their issues and concerns are being recognized and addressed.

If the voters would like to get in touch with me, my email is [email protected].

If you would like to speak with me, I’m more than willing to exchange phone numbers or meet in person.

What’s the biggest issue in District 7?

The concerns of the residents of District 7 are varied and I would be hard-pressed to boil it down to a single issue.

For some, improving education and mental health services in schools is their primary issue.

For others, the health of the local environment and waterways is a driving concern.

Many are not happy with the quality of the roads.

Whatever their concerns, I will do my best to address them.

What should the county do to help move the coal piles?

Brown County should continue working with federal, state and private industry leaders in formulating and acting on a plan for the coal piles’ removal.

Residents of Brown County and Green Bay should also be active in reaching out to their representatives to ensure that this issue is given the priority it deserves.

If the coal piles are still around during the holidays, I will reach out to Santa and make sure he is well stocked.
