Three on ballot for Brown County District 6

By Press Times Staff

BROWN COUNTY – Three people seeking a seat to represent District 6 on the Brown County board will be down to two after the Feb. 18 primary.

Incumbent Kathy Lefebvre is on the ballot along with Paul Boucher and Ken Corry.

The two with the most votes will advance to the April 7 general election.

The Press Times emailed each candidate the same questions and gave them 100 words to respond to each.

District 6 includes the Bay Beach area on the east side of the Fox River.

Kathy Lefebvre

Why should people vote for you?

John and I just celebrated 50 years living in the district.

Over those years, I have served on the following: president on the East Shore Neighborhood Association, Green Bay Board of Park Commissioners, Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Friends board, Areas of Concern DNR Advisory board, Steering Committee with hands-on construction for Habitat for Humanity.

Being a former small business owner, I understand the day-to-day challenges they face.

Finally, my experience serving two terms on the county board and one for the city council.

Kathy Lefebvre

What’s the biggest issue facing Brown County?

Continuing our fiscal policies by not bonding and keeping taxes down.

I voted to reduce county debt from $150 million (2015) to $81.8 million for 2020.

This means big savings in interest for the taxpayers, helping to lower your county taxes this year and in future years.

What can you do in District 6 to encourage growth for Brown County?

I voted on the expansion of Green Bay Packaging.

This will add up to 200 new jobs, 1,000 construction workers, while retaining 600 jobs and adding $580 million into the local economy.

Green Bay Packaging is helping the environment by moving from coal to gas, and will not be discharging wastewater into the Fox River.

Paul Boucher

Why should people vote for you?

I can bring youth and new ideas to the county board. We need to make the area more welcoming and more accessible to tourists, which will bring in much needed capital for everyone.

Paul Boucher

What’s the biggest issue facing Brown County?

Building welcoming projects, like more golf courses, including building a hotel resort casino on the Pulliam site; a Frank Lloyd Wright-type structure on the bay; and a huge international type museum, and a major expansion of the current zoo, including camels, elephants, hippopotamuses, rhinos, zebras, emus, tigers, koalas and kangaroos; and if we build tunnels under the Fox River, this will increase accessibility and attract visitors from thousands of miles away.

Let’s also be green and allow electric car owners to have access to indoor climate-controlled parking.

What can you do in District 6 to encourage growth for Brown County?

We have a shortage of housing. In order to attract large businesses, there are advantages to having an available workforce (unemployed people) and available housing.

I want to bring building projects to my district and all districts to share the wonderful culture that has already been established.

Editor’s note: Ken Corry is also listed on the ballot, but he chose not to participate in this article.
