GREEN BAY – Kaden LeCapitaine, a three-sport athlete at Green Bay Preble High School, will have completed 12 high school sports seasons after track and field ends this spring.

“It’s been a grind,” LeCapitaine said. “It’s made my high school career busy but also fun. I’ve had to use my time wisely in order to get everything done.”

LeCapitaine was a second-team all-conference punter for the Hornets this past football season and also played various skill positions on offense.

He runs the 110- and 300-meter hurdles in track.

“I got to sectionals in track my freshman and sophomore year, but I hope to compete at state this season,” said LeCapitaine, whose parents are Shane and Jaime. “I’d like to get to the next level.”

Track gave him his most memorable sports moment during his freshman year.

“I barely even knew the hurdles were an event,” said the 5-foot-10 senior. “My hurdles coach asked me to try it and see if I liked it. He put me in the regional lineup as a last-minute thing. I made it to sectionals by one-hundredth of a second.”

LeCapitaine has two younger brothers, Carson and Talan, who are 15 and 13, respectively.

His dad also went to Preble, and his mom is from Sturgeon Bay.

Before hitting the track this spring, LeCapitaine said he is hoping his Preble basketball team can get hot and make a run in the postseason.

“[Head] coach [Andy] Bobholz is nice, and he keeps things fun,” LeCapitaine said. “He doesn’t yell and get angry; instead, he’ll pull you aside and talk to you in private. I like his style of coaching.”

LeCapitaine will attend Marquette University after graduation to study engineering.

“I will most likely play intramural sports,” he said. “I’ve also been looking into becoming a manager for the basketball team.”

With over 2,200 students, Preble can be a busy place.

“It gets a little crowded,” said LeCapitaine. “For as big as the school is, it’s hard to get lost in. It only has two main hallways, but the main entrance is a long way from the gym. I will miss the sports when I graduate.”

LeCapitaine said he would like to be remembered at Preble as a good student/athlete and someone who gave his all and didn’t quit.

“Twenty years from now, I hope to be in an engineering job and maybe coaching,” he said. “I’d like to coach football or basketball.”

LeCapitaine said he likes hanging out with his friends, playing video games, boating, snowboarding and skiing.

“We usually go skiing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but we have taken a few trips out west to Utah and Colorado,” said LeCapitaine, who would describe himself as smart, funny and athletic.

In addition, he also likes bacon cheeseburgers, Butterfinger candy, dogs and the Green Bay Packers.

“My family has Packers season tickets, and my mom and I went to the game when Brett Favre came back to Lambeau with the Vikings in 2009, and everyone was booing him.”
