Meeuwsen picks up 100th career win at Pulaski Invite

PULASKI – Bay Port’s Max Meeuwsen, the defending WIAA Division 1 heavyweight state wrestling champ, won his 100th career match at the 16-team Pulaski Invitational Feb. 1 at Pulaski High School.

Meeuwsen, who has an overall record of 35-0 and was the lone area champ at the invite, is currently the No. 1-ranked heavyweight in the state.

Locally, the Pirates were fourth (121.5 points), Pulaski eighth (100) and West De Pere 10th (89.5).

Kaukauna won with 221 points, while Coleman finished second with 216 points.

Meeuwsen, a Naval Academy football commit, pinned Coleman’s Spencer Karban at the 3:09 mark of the final match to claim the title.

Other top finishes included Trent Francois (WDP, second – 120), Jake Hendricks (WDP, fourth – 126), Mitchell Kitzman (PUL, second – 145), Austin Heim (BP, third – 145), Chandler Stordeur (BP, second – 152), Jadin Lemke (PUL, second – 170), Mason Wells (PUL, fourth – 182), Drake Anderson (BP, third – 195) and Bryce Graef (WDP, second – 220).
