Madeline Miner is a senior at Ashwaubenon High School.

She ran her own solo, “On My Own,” during the final dress rehearsal of “Les Misérables.”

Miner said she’d like to be in Talia Suskauer’s shoes for a day.

Suskauer is the current Elphaba on the national tour of “Wicked.”

Talk about the four musicals during your career at Ashwaubenon.

“My freshman year, I was in the ensemble ofOnce Upon a Mattress,’ which was the first high school show to be performed in our new performing arts center. The following year, I played Mrs. Sheinkopf in ‘School of Rock,’ which was also our first year participating in the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program through the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton. My junior year was ‘Mamma Mia!,’ and I played Sophie Sheridan. We broke attendance records with three, sold-out shows. This year, I took on a dream role as Éponine in ‘Les Misérables.’ It’s been the perfect role to close out my Ashwaubenon musical run.”

What’s your most embarrassing performing moment?

“I haven’t had many embarrassing moments during a performance, but in rehearsal for Mamma Mia last year, I accidentally yelled out the dads’ names [Sam, Bill and Harry] as ‘Ham, Bill and Sarry’ in front of the whole cast and my directors.”

Favorite place to read a book?

“In my room before bed.”

If you could choose any animal for a pet, what would it be?

“I love my 12-year-old Shih Tzu, Oliver. I’d pick him over anything else.”

How has your family supported you through the years?

“They volunteer to help build sets or run concessions before my shows, and they haven’t missed a single one of my performances since I started community theatre.”

If you could have one wish, what would it be?

“To have the chance to work in Washington, D.C. someday. I’ve always had an interest in politics, and I think it would be fascinating to have a career in government and be able to make a difference on issues you care about.”

Talk about a teacher who has made a difference in your life.

“My former history teacher, Mrs. Kelly. History has always been one of my favorites, and she has made classes more exciting and entertaining.”

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

“I made the summit of a 13,000-foot mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, this summer with my family on a 7 1/2-hour hike.”

What are your college aspirations?

“I’ll be auditioning for musical theatre BFA programs soon, and I’ve also applied at a few non-music schools for majors like political communication and philosophy with an emphasis on social justice. If I don’t go into theatre, it would be great to go to law school and possibly be an assistant district attorney.”

What’s a pet peeve of yours?

“People around me using their phones during professional musicals.”

What’s your most valued possession?

“I save the playbills from every professional show I attend and get them signed by the cast.”

Favorite memory of a birthday?

“I got to spend my 14th birthday at Disney World. Disney has been my favorite place since I was young, and I got to wear my birthday pin around the park all day.”

What are your hobbies?

“Keeping up with and staying involved in politics and social justice advocacy.”

Favorite country to visit?

“I had the chance to travel to India two summers ago, and it was breathtaking. I’d like to go back someday. I’ve never been to the Czech Republic or Thailand.”

What four words describe you?

“Opinionated, passionate, outgoing, musical.”

Do you think an open campus is a good idea?

“I’d love to see an open campus at Ashwaubenon. I ran for president of my advanced placement government class in our mock election last year, and it was one of the issues I brought up in my campaign.”

Who’s your favorite musician?

“Two years ago, I started listening to and performing the choral pieces of Eric Whitacre.”

In 30 years, what do you hope to be doing?

“Either pursuing theatre as a career or fighting cases in a big city courtroom.”
