DE PERE – West De Pere High School had its request to join the Fox River Classic Conference for all sports denied by the WIAA Dec. 11.
In a recent email from the WIAA, the Conference Realignment Task Force assembled and reviewed 14 applications in the first meeting under the new realignment process.
In each of the cases denied, the task force identified incomplete or deficient information provided in the application as the rationale for the denial.
The task force will reconvene Jan. 8 to hear appeals from schools that had their requests denied, as well as receive input from member schools impacted by the results of the review.
The intent of the new conference realignment process is to apply a formalized method for member schools to request relief from conference affiliations.
This past April, West De Pere moved to the Fox River Classic Conference for football only beginning with the 2020 season.
