Name: Amber Polomis

Parents: Beth and Tom Polomis

Activity: Dance

Nickname: Ambi

Amber Polomis is a senior dancer for Ashwaubenon High School.

She said she would love to be an actress for one day because there appears to be lots of fun things going on backstage.

Polomis’ hobbies include drawing and swimming.

When did your interest in dance begin?

“When I was 3 years old, I took my first dance class.”

If you could use one emoji for the rest of your senior year, what would it be?

“The laughing face with tears, because I want this year to be fun and enjoy my senior season.”

What is your most embarrassing dance moment?

“Doing two wrong kicks at state on one long line.”

Which teammate could you see performing on ESPN?

“Ariana Wynn, because she is confident, and she has great faces during dance.”

What is your most memorable moment?

“Performing our routines on the state floor and walking off like we all owned the floor. It felt good when we talked about the best parts of the routines afterward.”

What goals do you hope to reach this season?

“Getting new skills or tricks and getting better at old ones which need work.”

How do you inspire or show leadership to younger teammates?

“I make sure they feel included and help everyone. Whether it’s skills, school or emotional things, I want them to feel a part of the team.”

What is something most people don’t know about you?

“I’m creative in storytelling and drawing. An example is a Draconian, which is half human and half dragon. It’s how my characters look and who they are on paper.”

Future plans?

“Go to college and try to get a job with animals or dancing.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate?

“A veterinarian.”

What is your favorite event attended?

“The NASCAR race in Brooklyn, Michigan. It’s different from what everyone would expect, and it’s not something which makes you stay in one area.”

What is your favorite type of music?

“I like country, pop and lyrical music.”

What is the hardest class assignment you’ve had to turn in?

“Any type of essay, because I can’t organize my thoughts well on paper.”

What three words describe you?

“Caring, loyal, determined.”

What has been your favorite trip?

“Orlando, Florida, with my team. We felt super close and got to make new memories.”

How has your family supported you?

“My family is very supportive of my school and my dancing because they love to see me express myself in whatever I do.”

Talk about what you did for your community service hours at Ashwaubenon.

“I helped kids take summer school classes ‘Act your Age’ and the middle school and elementary school dance class.”

What is your favorite dance move in a competition?

“Our team pike-toe touch because our team has done it so much. It’s our signature move in Pom.”

What is your favorite outfit or uniform to perform in?

“I liked the bird uniform from 2016-17 and the kick uniform from 2018-19. However, I love all the outfits we get to perform in.”

Talk about coach Meinel and coach Anderson.

“They work hard to make each team the best they can be. They give it their whole heart because they want the best for us.”

I will always remember …

“How many fun bonds I have on this team. They have helped me meet new people and break out of my shell.”
