Sports: Cross country, track

Do you have any siblings?

“I have three older sisters and one younger. Two live in Green Bay and have finished college. Another one lives in Spokane, Washington. I am the second youngest in the group.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“One of my uncles runs, and my mom played basketball in high school.”

What’s your earliest running memory?

“I did running club starting in elementary school.”

Congrats on a successful cross country state meet – 19th place is a good showing.

“Yes, I was happy. It was emotional knowing it was my last high school cross country meet. I consider my teammates like family, and I will miss them.”

What was it like running for head coach Kyle McMahon?

“It was fun. Something special about McMahon was he ran with us during practice. In a lot of programs, coaches don’t do that. I thought that was very cool.”

You run the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 in track – what’s your favorite?

“I like the 3,200 – I’m more of a distance runner.”

What’s the hardest for you?

“The 800 is hard. You don’t run as fast as you can, but it’s almost a sprint.”

Do you have a most memorable sports moment?

“During my junior season in track, I finished first in the 2 mile at the conference meet, and my two teammates finished second and third. It was a cool moment.”

An embarrassing one?

“At the city track meet in 2017, also in the 2 mile, I cramped up during the race, and I almost didn’t finish – it was embarrassing. I wanted to represent Preble as well as I could, so I fought through it and finished. I have put it out of my mind.”

Does a favorite family vacation come to mind?

“When I was little, we used to go to Florida every year.”

What three words describe you?

“Persistent, honest, happy.”

What will you miss about Preble?

“My teammates, coaches and teachers.”

Name something you hope to accomplish someday.

“My ultimate goal is to complete an Ironman, which is 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking and 26.2 miles of running. I can swim a little, and I’m a decent biker.”
