Tell me about your family.

“My younger sister Abbey is a sophomore at Bay Port and both of my parents graduated from Green Bay West High School.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“Abbey is not in sports but is involved in different clubs. My dad used to play high school football. I was always a bigger kid and loved sports.”

Did you ever do other sports at Bay Port?

“I wrestled my freshman and sophomore years but wasn’t very good. I got my friend Max Meeuwsen into wrestling, and now he’s a state champ.”

Is there one sport you wish you had done at Bay Port?

“Basketball is a fun sport to play.”

What’s it like having Gary Westerman as your football coach?

“He’s a down-to-earth guy who preaches more than football. He doesn’t scream, and he lets you know when you do things right. He teaches you how to be a better person. There are times instead of watching film, we work with special-needs kids.”

The football team has won 36 consecutive conference games – why are the Pirates so successful?

“It’s through hard work and confidence. Our coaches preach that every game is the same – no matter the opponent. We are level-headed kids and not cocky.”

Is it state or bust this season?

“Everyone knows what’s at stake – we’ve been told (laughing). This is one of the best classes to come through Bay Port in a long time – people have been hyping us up since the eighth grade. Our goal is to win a state championship – this is our time.”

Congrats on your first-team, all-conference selection. Is it hard not getting more individual attention?

“It doesn’t bother me – my teammates and coaches know I’m working hard.”

Why play lacrosse?

“I like any sport which involves contact.”

Do you have a most memorable sports moment?

“Last year when we beat Pulaski at their field, 28-0. I was nervous about the game, and both towns were there. It was an awesome win.”

An embarrassing one?

“Last year against Kimberly in Level 3, I was blocking and got thrown by Kimberly’s linebacker. There was a picture floating around, and I got a lot of grief for it (laughing).”

College football or the NFL?

“I’m an NFL guy.”

Who’s your favorite player?

“J.J. Watt from the Houston Texans.”

Do you have any pets?

“I have two Yorkies, Ollie and Otis.”

Does a favorite family vacation come to mind?

“We used to go to Florida every year. We also went to New York City once. It was fun to visit, but I could never live there. I’m a Midwestern guy.”

Where do you see yourself in 15 years?

“Living back here, teaching, having a family and maybe coaching.”

What three words describe you?

“Over-looked, determined, gritty.”

What will you miss about Bay Port?

“My friends, teachers, coaches and the memories I’ve made.”
