Rebecca Day is a senior cross country runner for West De Pere High School.

She has competed at the Seymour Invite and multiple Bay Conference duals and triangular meets.

More importantly, Day is a role model off the course, as she regularly volunteers her time to help others in need.

What’s it like to be a leader on the cross country team at West De Pere High with so few seniors? 

“Being a leader on the cross country team can definitely have its struggles because there are a lot of runners. It can be hard to get everyone’s attention. It’s definitely a lot of fun and something I will never forget.”

What’s your most embarrassing cross country moment?

“Tripping or falling during practice or a meet.”

A favorite family activity?

“Going up to the lake and up north.”

What is your most memorable moment?

“Being able to go to the adult special needs camp with my best friend and meet all these amazing people.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“Julie Ertz, because she is my favorite soccer player.”

Favorite Olympic sport to watch?

“My favorite Olympic sport is soccer.”

What is one thing other teammates or coaches don’t know about you?

“I enjoy volunteering in my community.”

What are your college aspirations? 

“I plan on going to college to become a nurse.”

What qualities do you possess that will make you successful in life?

“To always work as hard as I can and be positive through it all.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate?

“To become a nurse at a hospital.”

“Mrs. Gutschow (Madame Gutschow) or Mr. Ganzen.”

What is your favorite event ever attended? 

“Pine Lake special needs camp.”

What is your favorite type of music? 

“Country.”

Advice for future seniors?

“Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, and don’t procrastinate on your college choices.”

What three words describe you? 

“Caring, outgoing, easy-going.”

What is your favorite trip ever taken?

“Going to Lake Erie with my dad and relaxing by the lake.”

Which is more important, climate control or health care?

“Healthcare, because that’s what I want to go into as a career.”
