Comar receives scholarship

GREEN BAY – Notre Dame Academy graduate Abigail Comar received the 2019 WAHA/Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame Don Kohlman Memorial Scholarship Aug. 3 at the annual WAHA convention in Wausau.

Comar graduated from Notre Dame this past May where she played varsity high school hockey for four years with the Bay Area Ice Bears.

She was a three-sport athlete – also running cross country and track in high school.

Comar received the 2019 American Legion Athletic Award from Notre Dame for her dedication, commitment and leadership to high school sports.

She also played fall and spring club hockey with Team Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Selects all four years of high school and played in the USA Hockey National Championship tournament five consecutive years with these teams.

Comar was a top student at Notre Dame – graduating with a full international baccalaureate diploma and near the top of her class with a 4.084 GPA.

In addition, she was active in her school and community, including being president of the Model UN Club, Environmental Club, National Honor Society and numerous hours of community service.

Comar is attending Michigan State University this fall and plans to study wildlife conservation/biology in Lyman Briggs and the Honors College.

She is the daughter of John and Sherry Comar of Hobart.
