Get to know neighbors at National Night Out

BELLEVUE – Hailed as a night of appreciation and connection, the 36th Annual National Night Out will be celebrated Tuesday all across the country – including Bellevue.

The nationwide event aims to improve the relationship between law enforcement and their respective communities.

Trevor Bilgo, Bellevue directed enforcement officer, said National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make village neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

Hundreds are expected once again for Bellevue’s fifth National Night Out celebration from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Willow Creek Park.

The Village of Bellevue is teaming up with the Village of Allouez for this year’s event, with representatives from both communities in attendance.

The event gives residents a chance to talk with police officers, sheriff’s deputies and firefighters, giving first responders the opportunity to build trust with the community in a laid-back, relaxed setting.

Bilgo said the event features free food, school supply giveaways, face-painting, a bounce house, a K9 and the chance to get an up-close look at some of the equipment that the department uses.

“We are continuing to add more fun activities and equipment/safety vehicles to tour for this years event,” Bilgo said. “Come and join us for a great evening in support of building strong communities together.”
