Josephine Wesoloski is a recent graduate of Pulaski High school.
She played on the state-qualifying softball team this past spring and on the volleyball team last fall.
Wesoloski plans to attend UW-Oshkosh to study nursing.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, read, travel north to visit family and play with her dog Willow.

Tell me about your family.
“I have an older brother named Jonah who graduated from Pulaski in 2017 and currently attends UW-Stevens Point. Both of my parents are from Menominee, Michigan.”
Do you come from a sports family?
“Jonah played football and baseball in high school and now plays rugby in college. My dad played baseball and basketball and ran cross country, and my mom played tennis.”
Is there a high school sport you wish you had done?
“I played tennis in middle school and really liked it. I think I could have been pretty good. Maybe golf, too.”
The softball team made it to state your senior year – was that expected?
“I didn’t think it was a possibility, but halfway through the season, we started having more fun and our defense stepped up. At some point toward the end of the season, I started to believe it could happen.”
You scored the only run in the state quarterfinal game, a 1-0 win over Wilmot Union.
“It was so cool to play [at Goodman Park] where the UW-Madison team plays. To look at the stands and see all the people supporting us was amazing. I’ll definitely remember getting the triple [to lead off the fourth inning], and then scoring when Peighton Agamaite drove me in.”
Do you have a most embarrassing moment?
“At the Pulaski tournament after my freshman year, I had to pitch during a game. It was a really hot night, so I didn’t wear my facemask. I took a line drive off my face. I had stitches from the softball on my face – no broken bones, but I had a black eye.”
What was it like playing for head coach Billi Jo Vertz?
“She expected a lot, but she was always willing to talk to you personally. She talked about mental toughness a lot and playing for each other. She was a great coach and very knowledgeable.”
You didn’t get to play on the new field at Pulaski.
“It was disappointing not to play at least one game there, but with the spring weather we had, it wasn’t possible for it to be completed.”
Name two things you will miss about Pulaski High School.
“The sense of community and playing sports with my friends.”

What would your dream job be?
“Being a professional athlete would be really cool.”
What’s been your favorite family vacation?
“We recently visited Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef National Parks in Utah and spent a day at Antelope Canyon in Arizona. We are an active family, so it was fun to hike, drive and see all the cool sites. My mom and I are going to New York City soon, too.”
How will Josie Wesoloski be remembered at Pulaski?
“I hope to be remembered as a passionate person that helped others and brought them up. I dedicated a lot of time to sports during my time at Pulaski.”
